ocd meme

one of the earliest signs that exhibited atleast some crossed wires in my brain was, as i recall, my asking my mom which way i entered a room that had two entrances. of course it was obvious why i asked that – i had to go out the same way.

you see i used to have this crazy notion that there was this infintely stretchable string attached to me and i had to go in and out of places the same way or the string would get all knotted up.

growing up, i lost that habit but picked up many more. so without further ado, some of the things i feel obsessively compulsive about are:

  1. all my dollar bills must face the front of the wallet, the presidents head face up and in ascending order from the front to the back (otherwise i will lose the wallet that day).
  2. if i want to stop the microwave before the timer runs out, it will have to be at a good number ( yeah, 13 is bad; so are all numbers with a digital root of 8 ).
  3. sock-sock-shoe-shoe (otherwise the universe will be destroyed).
  4. i always say “excuse me” when i sneeze – even if no one else is in the room (hey you never know who might be with me from a parallel universe … and i definitely do not want to annoy someone from a parallel universe)
  5. i will never take the top-most or front-most item from a store shelf (some nose-pickers might have picked it up to inspect it and then put it right back) – hey, this atleast makes sense!

brief pause, while i wait for the last of my loyal readers, to remove my feed from their list and bid sayonara to a crazy kook.

ok, if you are still here and you are one of the below, treat this as a non-compulsory tag: describe atleast one thing (more if you are in a particularly confessional mood) you do on a regular basis that others would find crazy if they found out. (spouses finding out does not count – infact i had described these in graphic detail in my prenup and vidhya is barred from using any of the above as grounds for a spousal-insanity plea)

tag, you’re it:

oy,
sounds familiar, man!
i always tear off rotis in the same sequence and in nearly same sizes- folded in half, then tearing corner, edges, corner, centre… and moving clockwise.
sock shoe sock shoe
when the tiles are large enough, i avoid stepping on flooring joints!
and the worst- travelling by train/bus, i keep moving my hands like running a hurdle, only i try to skip trees, lamposts… all vertical elements.
sheesh… i sound crazy!
anyways, nice meeting you!!
